How To Make A Fall Double Wreath ~ How To Make A Fall Double Wreath ~ A detailed step-by-step photo tutorial showing how to make this gorgeous wreath for the fall season for your front door.

I just finished making this Fall Double Wreath which is now hanging on the front door. I love it! Don’t the Fall colours stand out against the black front door? Here is a photo tutorial showing you step-by-step how I made it so you can make something similar too!

I’m really proud of the end product and here is…

How To Make A Fall Double Wreath – The Instructions

Materials

  • 1 larger willow wreath – This was the most expensive item but I got it half price at Michaels with a coupon. A larger grapevine wreath also works.
  • 1 smaller grapevine wreath – This will be attached on top of the larger wreath.
  • bunches of good quality silk flowers – I had three different types to work with: fern leaves, maple leaf leaves, variety of fall looking flowers. I bought the silk plants in bunches because it is a lot cheaper than buying single flowers. Then I just cut them apart with a wire cutter. My colour scheme was rust, red, yellow, orange, brown, purple
  • wire cutter to cut the bunches apart – I just had a small wire cutter which really didn’t do the job so I spent the money to buy a larger one and I am glad I did.
  • glue gun – I just inserted the silk flowers into the two wreaths but I also further secured them with dollops of glue.
  • floral wire – This was used to secure the two wreaths together.
  • ribbon – I used red, purple and orange sheer wired ribbon.
  • scissors – These were used to cut the ribbon.

What was the Cost to Make the Wreath?

It has hard to give a specific cost but I estimate that it was about $50.00 to $60.00 (CDN) to make.

Instructions

Step 1 – Attach the first set of fern flowers by tucking them into the larger wreath and further secure each one with a dab of hot glue.

Step 2 – Attach the second type of fern leaf flowers and further secure each leaf with a dab of hot glue.

Step 3 – Now do the same thing with the maple leaf flowers. The larger wreath is now complete. Notice that I attached the leaves in different directions randomly but quite evenly around the wreath.

Step 4 – Now secure an assortment of silk flowers to the smaller grapevine wreath. In this wreath there is no pattern but I tried to make sure the colours were evenly spread around the wreath. I also further secured each flower with a hidden dab of glue. Notice that you can hardly see the smaller grapevine wreath because it is so full of flowers.

Step 5 – Now attach the smaller wreath to the larger wreath. I just used floral wire to connect the two wreaths at four different points so nothing would move or come apart.

Step 6 – I also used floral wire to make and secure the bow to the top wreath.

Here’s a close-up of the bow. Notice it is made of three different types of ribbon matching the colours in the wreath.

And that’s it! Pretty easy and quite doable, even for the non-crafty person.
