Are you interested in making your home more stylish in 2020? As the new decade begins, it’s a great time to give your home a refresh and create the space of your dreams.

The Return of Wallpaper
Wallpaper is making a comeback in a big way, and in 2020 floral wallpaper will be especially popular. “Floral wallpaper has been around for years, and you will continue to see the pretty pattern but with a much more modern update,” designer Abbe Fenimore told GoodHousekeeping.com. “Large scale, bold color and even metallic versions are here to stay.” Best of all, wallpaper can be incorporated into any room in your house, from your bedroom to your bathroom.

Multifunctional Spaces
If you work from home, you don’t have to feel like you work at an office. “Yes, there will still be home offices and studies, but there is a big forward movement toward fusing our lives and overlapping leisure and working environments,” Yvonne Pratt wrote on her blog StoneGable. Set up your home office in your spacious kitchen or have your flex room double as an office and a guest room. It’s all about creating an environment that’s both functional and comfortable.

Bold Bathrooms
Looking to start out small with your bold design moves? Update your bathroom. “Bathrooms are a great place to experiment and have fun with color, materials and/or wallpaper,” designer Bailey Austin told ELLEDecor.com. Geometric patterns will be particularly hot this year and are easy to incorporate in the design of your bathroom through floor tiles or wallpaper. Small touches like unusual fixtures can really make your bathroom stand out.

Classic Black and White
“The clash between light and dark is a gift from the interior design gods,” Erica Davis of Collected Interior Design wrote on her blog. This timeless look can add pizzazz to any room — and it’s easy to incorporate. That black chair in the corner? Toss a white throw pillow on it. Pair white cabinets with black countertops to create a sleek and sophisticated kitchen. Place a black comforter on top of your crisp white sheets for a visually striking contrast.

Eco-Friendly Materials
Sustainability is more than a buzz word; it’s a way of life. Designers everywhere will be looking to use more eco-friendly materials in 2020. “There is a definite tidal wave push for sustainable décor materials, from recycled bottles that become furniture to beautifully engineered materials for floors,” Pratt wrote. When you live at a Pardee home, you can trust your home was built with sustainable materials through the LivingSmart® program, and now you can ensure it’s decorated with them, too.
